30 Minutes in the Life Blog Circle | New Year’s Day 2021

Happy New Year! Happy 2021!

Although this is technically our December blog circle, I wanted to share images from our New Year’s Day walk with you. I know I would become melocolic if I were to reflect on Christmas and the past year, and with so many unknowns, I haven’t yet found the optimism needed to look forward to the year ahead. Living each day day-by-day, focusing on what we can do, rather than what we can’t, I’m choosing to focus on the now. With bitterly fresh air to fill the lungs, a family dog walk was exactly what was needed to blow away some of those Christmas cobwebs and the lazy overindulgences.

Just a few miles from our home is an Iron Age hill fort, Caesar’s Camp. Caesar’s Camp stands 177 metres (581 ft) above mean sea level and on a clear day there are views reaching as far as London. When I say ‘a few miles’ from home, I’m not exaggerating. It is a 5 minute drive! When we left home I could see that the cloud cover would prevent us seeing much on this particular occasion, but it was dry, there wasn’t any frost and the cloud cover seemed relatively high. It seemed like a good day for a walk, but I wasn’t sure I’d need my camera (but you know, new year, new focus and all that, meant that the camera was coming too)! As we drove up the hill towards the parking area we were astounded to drive into the clouds and see the frost line appear before our eyes! Maybe I would need my camera after all!
