Welcome to another month of the 30 Minutes in the Life blog circle!

A few weeks ago we took a trip to Cardiff to watch London Welsh rugby club play Cardiff. We decided to make a weekend of it, by staying overnight and heading to Cardiff Castle the following morning.

30 Minutes in the Life – May 2021 | Finding Time

It’s been two months since I started a new chapter. After 11 years of being a stay-at-home mum, I went back to work and I’m absolutely loving it!

While my enthusiasm for work continues to grow and my personal time become increasingly precious, I realise that my time for photography has been even more important than ever. Even if I find just five minutes at the end of the day to take a photo for my 365, I need to take those five minutes for myself. When I do that, the rest of my time – time for my family – is all the better. So it may not be 30 minutes in the life, but it is vital nonetheless.

So here’s five minutes in my garden, stolen from that gap between the end of the working day and cooking the dinner.

30 Minutes in the Life – March 2021 | Tree in Blossom

Welcome to another month of the 30 Minutes in the Life blog circle!

I’ve been spending a lot of time recently playing with layers and using the Pep Ventosa technique to create photographic images that are impressionistic in style. A couple of weeks ago, while I was (socially distance) walking the dog with my parents, I saw a tree from a distance that was just coming into blossom. I knew I had to give it a few days but it was calling out to me to be photographed and I was keen to get back to it!

Another day, another dog walk, I made my way back to the lone tree with blossom in the field behind Fleet Pond.

After completing my mission, we headed through the field towards Fleet Pond. The dog loves the beach!

30 Minutes in the Life – February 2021 | Hartland Country Park

Welcome to another 30 Minutes in the Life blog circle! This month I’m sharing images from a walk we took last weekend. We visited a new spot – Hartland Country Park in Fleet, Hampshire – and it was such a pleasant surprise. It has some growing-in to do in places but there were so many photo opportunities! I was really taken by all the tones and textures of the trees, and had a lovely time working on some ICM (intentional camera movement).

I’ll be looking forward to returning in the spring when it is a little warmer and a littler greener!

30 Minutes in the Life Blog Circle – January 2021 | 10 in 10

Ceri-Herd-Fleet-Photographer-Product-Photography-Eggs

I usually share documentary-style images for this monthly blog circle, but this time I’m giving you something a little different. It’s been an age since I’ve done any photography education, but with some gentle encouragement from a dear friend, this week I signed up to a new course. It’s already proved to be just the change of focus I need and I feel freshly enthusiastic and renewed.

One of the first exercises assigned (and I’d encourage all photographers to try this periodically) was to take a single item and create 10 different images in 10 minutes. Now, I’ll admit, these did take me more than 10 minutes (nearer to 30+10), but that was largely because 5 minutes in I started making my egg a party hat!

Have you ever tried a 10 in 10? I’d love to see you images if you have. And if you haven’t, why not give it a go??!
