Share Six Blog Circle – February 2021 | Silver Lining

A {Silver Lining} might seem hard to find for a lot of us right now, but that’s exactly why Share Six is exploring that theme this month. I’ve spent hours thinking about what my silver lining is and what images to post. I’ve been thinking about what I’m grateful for and what positives I feel at the end of each day. It comes down to this:

I am grateful for the additional time I have had to create images since the beginning of the year. I am grateful I was strong enough to make a choice – a choice that is now giving me the time I need to rediscover myself when I hadn’t realised how lost I was. I am grateful for friends who have pushed me, guided me and encouraged me to find my way back into doing what I love. They know who they are.

Integral to this, I’m currently 3-weeks in to a 4-week workshop with Click Photo School (Clickin Moms). It is called Creative Approach. The workshop is led by insanely talented Ardelle Neubert, and it has been exactly what I needed at exactly the right time. I thought I’d use this theme to share some of my images from the workshop with you.

This is the therapy for my soul that I need while we face these challenging times.

Share Six Blog Circle – January 2021 | Details

A new year, a new Share Six theme! To kick-off 2021, we’re focusing on the {details}.

There are lots of ‘details’ going on in all our lives right now that I could focus on, but I know if I do I’ll get sucked down a rabbit hole of emotions. So instead, let’s keep this simple.

I love to take a single subject:

And examine it:

To find new angles:

And to focus on what makes that subject an individual:

And find a new level of creativity:

This is the therapy for my soul that I need while we face these challenging times.

30 Minutes in the Life Blog Circle | New Year’s Day 2021

Happy New Year! Happy 2021!

Although this is technically our December blog circle, I wanted to share images from our New Year’s Day walk with you. I know I would become melocolic if I were to reflect on Christmas and the past year, and with so many unknowns, I haven’t yet found the optimism needed to look forward to the year ahead. Living each day day-by-day, focusing on what we can do, rather than what we can’t, I’m choosing to focus on the now. With bitterly fresh air to fill the lungs, a family dog walk was exactly what was needed to blow away some of those Christmas cobwebs and the lazy overindulgences.

Just a few miles from our home is an Iron Age hill fort, Caesar’s Camp. Caesar’s Camp stands 177 metres (581 ft) above mean sea level and on a clear day there are views reaching as far as London. When I say ‘a few miles’ from home, I’m not exaggerating. It is a 5 minute drive! When we left home I could see that the cloud cover would prevent us seeing much on this particular occasion, but it was dry, there wasn’t any frost and the cloud cover seemed relatively high. It seemed like a good day for a walk, but I wasn’t sure I’d need my camera (but you know, new year, new focus and all that, meant that the camera was coming too)! As we drove up the hill towards the parking area we were astounded to drive into the clouds and see the frost line appear before our eyes! Maybe I would need my camera after all!

Parts of the lake were frozen and the boys were trying to find (and bounce stones off) the ice:

30 Minutes in the Life Blog Circle | November 2020

It’s been a few months since I’ve been able to join in with the 30 Minutes in the Life blog circle. Life kept getting in the way. I’m so glad to be back!
