Inspired by Life Blog Circle | July 365

July is long gone and we’ll be back to school in the blink of an eye, so it’s about time I share my images from July. It was a month of two halves: waiting to be home and being home, the home that is England. We spent precious time with so many loved ones. If you’ll watching carefully you’ll see a few of them in these images.

Share Six Blog Circle – August 2018 | Water

Two-boys-photograph-water-reflection-ceri-herd-photography-massachusetts

The theme at Share Six this month is {Water}.

We’ve been contemplating the future a lot recently. We don’t know where we’ll be down the road, but what I do know is that I long to be by the sea. Or a big lake at the very least. The ocean, the waves and the sand between my toes fill my heart with joy, with peace and respite from the daily grind. I want to walk the dog on the beach every morning, come rain or shine. Even snow. I want big views and big sky. And light. Give me all the light reflecting off the water and let it shine!

I’m travelling this month so I’m pulling a few recent beachside favourites from my archives. Maybe they’ll give you some inspiration for your own dreams or better still, inspire you to submit your own images with us! Post your {Water} images on our Facebook page SHARE SIX or to our Instagram gallery by tagging #sharesix and #sharesix_water. A new theme will be posted on 6th September.

That was six at the seaside but I’m throwing in an extra special favourite too, just because…. water.

Inspired by Life Blog Circle | June 365

It’s time again to look back at my images from last month: this is June.

I am officially half way through this current 365!

I remember thinking at the time the whole of June felt like a constant and monotonous countdown, waiting for the last day of school and for the summer to finally begin. It doesn’t seem right that we wish away these days by dreaming about tomorrow or tomorrow’s tomorrow even though there are more exciting days on the horizon. There is beauty and joy to be found in every day, so long as we take the time to appreciate it. I was obviously feeling the *blah* of the waiting and of the daily grind because it was clearly reflected through many days of (frankly, boring) images. But blah does not make the cut, so this gallery is smaller than others. I shall endeavour to better my attitude and my images for July, I promise!

So here is June (minus that blah):

10 on 10 Blog Circle | July 2018

Every once in a while, back when school was still in session, I would find myself with a brief window of time in the day just for myself, once my to-do list was finished but there was still time before pick-up. On this particular day I had 10 minutes. 10 minutes in the garden with my camera. It was spring so there were flowers in full bloom and I could’ve happily spent hours studying each and every one. A 10 on 10 in 10:

Share Six Blog Circle – July 2018 | Curves

Lensbaby Burnside 35mm Share Six Curves plant

The theme for this month’s Share Six blog circle is {Curves}.

My take on the theme may be a little tenuous but I’ve been waiting for the right opportunity to share some images taken with the latest addition to my lens collection: the Lensbaby Burnside 35mm. The Burnside not only has gorgeous creamy tones, with the right application it creates beautifully curved bokeh. See what I did there? Look for the swirling curves that draw your eye to the subject:
