Share Six Blog Circle – May 2021 | Light Inspired

The theme for May’s Share Six Blog Circle is {Light Inspired}. As photographers, we are always searching for inspiration, ways to create something new or beat our way out of a rut. Ultimately that inspiration often from the light that surrounds our subject.

The past few weeks I’ve been (massively) inspired by a new lens – the Lensbaby Velvet 85 – and a new set of Lensbaby Omni Filters – the colour expansion pack. The colour crystal omni wands create and manipulate light in a creative, extraordinary and incredibly inspiring way, so for me these images are the epitome of {Light Inspired}.

Share Six Blog Circle – February 2021 | Silver Lining

Ceri-Herd-Fleet-Photographer-Creative-Diptych-Piano-ICM-Silver-Lining

A {Silver Lining} might seem hard to find for a lot of us right now, but that’s exactly why Share Six is exploring that theme this month. I’ve spent hours thinking about what my silver lining is and what images to post. I’ve been thinking about what I’m grateful for and what positives I feel at the end of each day. It comes down to this:

I am grateful for the additional time I have had to create images since the beginning of the year. I am grateful I was strong enough to make a choice – a choice that is now giving me the time I need to rediscover myself when I hadn’t realised how lost I was. I am grateful for friends who have pushed me, guided me and encouraged me to find my way back into doing what I love. They know who they are.

Integral to this, I’m currently 3-weeks in to a 4-week workshop with Click Photo School (Clickin Moms). It is called Creative Approach. The workshop is led by insanely talented Ardelle Neubert, and it has been exactly what I needed at exactly the right time. I thought I’d use this theme to share some of my images from the workshop with you.

This is the therapy for my soul that I need while we face these challenging times.

30 Minutes in the Life – July 2019 | Hunstanton Beach

23-Ceri-Herd-Photography-Fleet-Family-Photographer

For this month’s 30 Minutes I’m taking you back to June and our trip to Norfolk.

A friend recently posted a question on Facebook: mountains or beach? For me the answer is easy. The sea calls me. All. The. Time. The distant horizon, the ginormous sky, that vast sense of nothing, that anything is possible, the sound of swaying water and the freshness of the breeze in the air: I want to be there as often as I can for as long as I can. Perhaps I am the British version of Moana?!

This is the beach at Hunstanton with it’s sweeping views over The Wash and striking reddish stratified carrstone, limestone and chalk cliffs. We didn’t have all that long to explore (thank you pay n display parking) so you’re seeing pretty much everything I captured in the order I captured it, even the sulking 9-year old (he got over it soon enough…I tell you, the sea fixes everything). It’s quite a long scroll. Enjoy!

Share Six Blog Circle – February 2019 | Paper Heart & Red

Ceri-Herd-Photography-Paper-Heart-Project-2

** February is Heart Month **

This month Share Six has joined forces with The Paper Heart Project to spread awareness for congenital heart defects, and we’re incorporating two themes for you to interpret as you wish: {red} and {heart}.

One out of a hundred children are born with a CHD. There are many different types of CHDs and children can suffer from one defect or multiple defects. The severity of the defect can range from mild, meaning a child will need no treatment, to terminal, the defects will ultimately take the child’s life. Congenital Heart Defects are severely under researched and underfunded. Therefore, the more awareness individuals can spread the more funding the heart community hopes to gain.

Thank you for joining me into the new year and for another month at Share Six! You can share your paper heart images to join the campaign using #paperheartproject #chdawareness

30 Minutes in the Life Blog Circle | December 2018 – Festive 5

Ceri-Herd-Photography-Christmas-Jumper-Rudolph

“Thirty Minutes in the Life” features ladies from around the world as we capture 30 minutes in our lives as mothers, wives, daughters, sisters and friends {and photographers}.  This is a blog circle so please be sure to visit the next photographer in the circle.

Christmas 2018 has been and gone. I wish it hadn’t gone so soon: I need more time!

I *love* Christmas, but with so much other life going on, it was a struggle for me to feel my usual festive-self this holiday season. I haven’t felt compelled to pick up my camera either *gasp* but I’m hopeful that my creative drive will return over the coming months as we continue to settle back into life in the UK. For now I’m not going to force it, so I’m not sharing images from one 30 minute slot and I’m keeping this month simple: Christmas Jumper Day and some festive-flavoured still life.

Thank you for joining me again this month. Wishing all my followers and one-time visitors the happiest of holiday seasons and a light- and love-filled 2019.

Please be sure to follow along the blog circle, and see Caroline Liabot of Elles&Eux Photographie’s Festive Five by clicking here! Want some amazing inspiration? Keep following the circle to see what other photographers from around the world have shared this month – and don’t forget to leave a little love on their pages!
